The Mission of the Lone-Parent support Network is
to improve the life chances of children and the efficacy of familiesDivorce is not the end of Responsible Parenting, rather it is only a new beginning, One that requires Love, Patients, Team Work and Support.
Both the Resident and Contact Parent belong In their Childrens Lives.
No one is more important than the other, and without the other, niether can accomplish the whole.
We seek to increase and enrich the possibilities for children, through Family Law Arrangments that promote participation and Involvment of both Parents in their childrens lives. To support the conduct and dissemination of research that advances the understanding of parental involvment and promote awarness of how gender based expectations limit parents Legally, Socially and Psychologically. We understand first hand that when parents are Alianated from children, feelings of Loneliness, Helplessness and anger sometimes prevail. We hope to give all parents a place to vent their Fustrations and find possible solutions through, Family Support, Mentoring and Advocacy.
The Primary Function of the network is to Resource Parents to navigate existing structures at Personal, Legal and Political levels. The networks vision is to build the field, bringing together stakeholders in efforts for
Lone-Parents and their families alongside communities of individuals most affected by and committed to the work.
The network was established in January 2000 as a volunteer organisation to develope and implement an adjenda that is solution focused and practise derived, to expand the knowledge base on parental involvment and families and to contribute to critical discussions in policy
